Our theme is “Then till Now”, so our demonstrations are designed to bring a bit of history and show how we evolved through the past 27 years.

The Symposium is packed with 11 demonstrations over the three days, presented by renowned turners from regional woodworking associations.

A separate trade area is available with suppliers of woodturning tools and supplies

You are welcome to bring your own artistic creations to exhibit in the Art Gallery, as well as to bring for critique

The AWSA Symposium 2022 is planned for 6 to 9 October 2022 at the New Hope School in Cecilia Road, Ashlea Gardens, Pretoria. The plan is to have the opening on Thursday evening, 6 October and to continue until noon on Sunday 9 October. A gala dinner will take place on the Saturday evening.

AWSA turned 25 in 2020 but due to the Covid 19 pandemic it was not possible to celebrate this birthday. The proposed theme for the symposium is from “Then till Now” and the idea is to highlight the progress made with woodturning in South Africa. In view of this theme the different clubs will be requested to nominate their master turners as demonstrators. This will give the event a full South African flavour and will illustrate the progress over the last 27 years.

The New Hope School will make classrooms available that can be used by suppliers. These rooms will be made available to the suppliers at a fee.

There are several accommodation facilities available in the area around the school, but the school is also making the hostel rooms available. There are a number of rooms with two beds and a private bathroom, as well as rooms with more beds.

More information about AWSA Symposium 2022 will be made available soon. However, we would like to know if you would attend this event. Please drop us an email at awsa2022@awsa.org.za. Please provide your name, contact number, email address, hometown/-city, club name if you are a member of a club and the number of persons that would like to attend.

It would be appreciated if you could distribute to all woodturners you know.
